The first International Animation Festival in Greece is going to take place in Hermoupolis, Syros Island in 19, 20 and 21 of September 2008.
The festival will include screenings of more than a hundred films from all over the world, presentations of international festivals, like the Brazilian Anima Mundi, workshops for children and university students, as well as a competition section with more than 70 films. Media literacy programmes are also an important part of animasyros 1.0, and thus there will be seminars on the history of animation, 2D and 3D animation by professors and animators. In order to promote digital culture and especially the art of animation, the festival will host a tribute to the Technological University of Athens as well as a tribute to Australian animators curated by Atanas Djonov. The International Animation Festival animasyros 1.0 festival is organized by Platforma – Urban Culture Co. in cooperation with the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Hermoupolis.
